thanks for posting. fun to review that last tosu series. imo last-second failure seems more on coach ryan day. tosu had 1st and ten on the oregon 28 down by 1 with 34 seconds left. don't you run the ball up the middle 3x (or til oregon runs out of time outs) then kick a field goal? instead day calls 3 pass plays, loses 10 yards on offensive pass interference, and tasks the tosu qb with an impossible play with 6 seconds left.
And, Oregon kinda screwed themselves earlier in the game by going for 2 after a TD and also by not kicking a FG on 4th down on the 3 yard line. Those 4 points would have forced tOSU to score a TD at the end of the game to win it.
Lanning took some heat last year when he went for it on 4th and goal against Washington and failed. As I recall a field goal might have made a difference in the game.
Guess that didn't change his philosophy.
