This is Trent Murphy all over again. Murphy was listed at 6-5 222 coming out of high school. Tyler: 6-5 225.Â
That was quite an impressive video, and I'll bet as or more impressive then Murphy's Senior highlight video. Great quickness and explosion, pursues relentlessly, uses his hands well, sheds blocks not just to get off them, but to make tackles, and hits with force.
Stanford clearly was waiting to see Tyler's Senior year video before offering him, based on the fact the Rivals article says he camped at Stanford but had no offer when he came. Had he been as impressive as a Junior they surely would have offered him much earlier. So it's safe to assume the kid made a great leap in performance from his Junior to Senior year and that he gets bumped up in the rankings. When a perennial Top 10 BCS school offers someone, that means something!
Might Tyler's commitment, along with Barton, Kalambayi, and Palma mean Stanford is done with LBs in this class? I mean I know Isaac S. and Randolph are still out there, but it seems unlikely Stanford will allocate more spots in what seems to be a small class, to LBs.
