Dick Vermeil \'74-\'75 is to UCLA what Ralston is to us.  Pretty good and pretty far away in time.  Actually,  Terry Donahue fits the Ralston mold better,  which would make Vermeil UCLA\'s  "Walsh 1".

After that:  Bob Toledo,  Karl Dorrell.  Both with overall winning records but UCLA  kept looking for somebody new to be the next mediocre coach.   Washington is right.  Stop the potential improvement cycle.  Extend Neuheisel.  Heck,even give him a raise.

Meanwhile,  Karl Dorrell,  always a bridesmaid,  was interviewed for HC jobs, then OC jobs,  then assistant jobs.  He is currently an assistant coach with.....wait for it.... the Miami Dolphins.
