Not sure, but they probably weren't but should have been in 1981. That was the year SJS kicked Stanford's butt 28-6. Particularly embarrassing because Stanford had two of their all-time greats that year, John Elway and Darrin Nelson. Supposedly SJS coach Jack Elway just tore into Paul Wiggin after the game because of how poorly he felt his son was being coached.
I think it was because John looked to have severely sprained his ankle and was hobbling around the backfield. Clearly noticeable to everyone in the stands and on the field, except Wiggin. The opposing coach flipped to being a dad, and it was great to see. I think that was one of the moments that drove the selection of Jack a couple of years later.
