In other words, the mid-majors are becoming the minor league for the professional power conferences.  High school players who are good enough to go "pro" right away are few in number.  The rest need to work their way up through the minor leagues.  Any player who values a 4 year college experience, however, and an actual education that is not disrupted half way through would be better served coming to us.

I was thinking about this comment on the way home. Perhaps we'll return to the days of walking uphill (through snow) to Maples like back in the old days. No professional league, so those players who could get through Admissions were likely to come to Stanford. We rarely lost out on a recruit who could make it through that door.
