Santa Clara, prior to today probably Stanford's best win, goes on the road and knocks off AP No. 16 Gonzaga behind some OK-I-guess three-point shooting. The Broncos merely shot 12-17 (71%) from three-point range in the second half, winning the game 103-99.

One of my two favorite games this week... ;). Santa Clara is a decent team, they're holding onto a #42 RPI (Gonzaga is #40). First win in Gonzaga since 2007 and first road win over a top 25 team since Nash's team beat Cal.

That implied score is eerily accurate.

We have 8 home games left including WF and SMU.
Road games are: SMU, GT, Duke, ND, Louisville

So 13 more league games and we need to win 8 to get to 20.  SMU, Wake, Duke and Louisville are all ahead of us.  That means 5 more games against teams above us in the standings. If we can take care of business against those below us and steal a couple of more, we might make it with 22 winds and winning at least one round in the tournament.  We do get WF and SMU at home, need a fired up crowd for those games as they will mean a lot. We have shown to be able to play tough on the road, but we are NOT very deep.  We really need some big wins at home where we can rest more of the starters. I hope Young is taking up residence in the trainers area. For the first time in a long time, you can actually think about winning 20 games when you aren't halfway through your 4th Margarita.

ACC had five teams in March Madness last year:

UNC (29-8)
Duke (27-9
NC State (26-15)
Clemson (24-12)
Virginia (23-11)

ACC had two teams in the NIT
Wake Forest (20-13)
VA Tech (18-14)
Pittsburgh (22-11) turned down a bid.

I think 20 wins gets us in the NIT.

Big dropoff from Stanford to Virginia. I think we could get to the NIT, with an outside shot at the NCAAs (won't tempt the woofing gods).

A problem with the current records and current RPI or Net is that they are the result of who you have played, and don't take into account who you will play.  Warren Nolan's projected RPI has Stanford at #72 with a record of 20-11.  So, they're going to  have to pull some good upsets to make the big dance.  1 down, 2 to go.
