I just wonder what's wrong with Doncic. I have to think there is that Dallas knows that no one else does.

The alternate explanation is that Dallas THINKS they know something about Doncic that no one else does. It could be as simple as believing he will never take care of himself, will get injured a lot and will break down at a young age. Dallas therefore should not pay him a super-max contract and get what they can while they can. Of course, "knowing" something like that is impossible. It is a "best guess". It will play out and Dallas may look like fools, geniuses, or somewhere in between.
