I doubt that Nick Saban could win much more than that with this team given its talent level, lack of depth and past struggles.Worst in the SEC was Gerry DiNardo of Vanderbilt with a 5-6 record in 1991. No other SEC HC won CoY with a sub-.500 record.
I am happy to be proven wrong.
Worst in Pac-12 history was Oregon State's Dave Kragthorpe with a 4-7-1 record in 1989. No other Pac-12 HC won CoY with a sub-.500 record.
Former Stanford coach Dennis Green won it at Northwestern in 1982 after a 3-8 record. No other Big 10 coach won it with less than six wins.
But the winnah and still champeen was Paul Amen of Wake Forest, who won the ACC's coach of the year award in 1956 with a 2-5-3 record.
So three wins would be just the second-worst ACC HC record to win CoY.
well 3-9 is 25% wins, allocating ties as 0.5 wins and 0.5 losses Amen (great name) had 3.5 "wins" or 35% wins
