LA Times article on some job losses in the USC AD. You could make a reasonable argument that this is a good rebalancing of athletics department revenue away from administrators and to athletes, and you would probably be right, but there is only so much administrative bloat you can squeeze out. Already seeing some evidence, however, of scholarship reductions elsewhere:

WSU is cutting some track and field events, and focusing on the events that it feels it has a competitive advantage in (distance events).
