Great example, let's expound. If we regulated sports betting like we regulated smoking, there wouldn't be ads for it on every sports broadcast. You could only do it in certain locations (say, a casino). Maybe I'm overly paternalistic, but that arrangement seemed to work fine, and I think we should "RETVRN" to how things used to be with sports betting.
I'm with you on that - the Draft Kings ads all over the place. The cursory research I've done indicates that comprehensive bans on tobacco product advertisement has lead to a measurable reduction in smoking-related deaths, which I think most reasonable people would agree is a good thing.
Question for you though on phones and ease of placing bets. If it needs to be done through bookies instead of in the safety of your Android, is that better? (Honest question, not rhetorical.) I don't gamble on line or IRL, so I don't understand the cyber equivalent of some goon coming in the night to break kneecaps.
