I really wonder about the economics of all this and the apparently bottomless cup of donor money chasing one national title a year among 20 hyper-expensive coaches with massive buyouts.
Think the Virginia model might be the right one. Don't pay the coach an insane amount of money to go away while you rinse and repeat; dump the opportunity cost money into NIL and buy better players.
Elliott makes a pedestrian (these days) $4.4 million per annum with an $11 million buyout this year. Would have been relatively easy to do.
