I think you'll get your wish on this one next year. For starters, it won't really make any sense for them to repeat this point next year, because while Taylor and Thomas are both amazing players, they don't have the star power that turns this line of thought into compelling television. No non-Stanford fans will be thinking "how can Stanford move on from here?". Also, I don't think we need this publicity any more with recruits, so I agree with you that its a good thing it will phase out. At this point, Stanford will have been ranked continuously for basically the entire time recruits have been playing high school ball and dreaming about potential schools. The type of players we want will have seen other players like them at Stanford play on an elite team, get publicity and major awards, and then move on to the NFL. In short, I think next year we'll just look like a regular old elite program, not a surprisingly good team that is doing something out of character for its program.
