5th/6th seems to be Stanford's destiny at this point. Oregon winning is critical, for several reasons. The most important is that if Oregon wins the Pac-12 Networks will be able to claim two of the top 5 teams in 2012 and probably preseason 2013 too. So go...oooooooooooooooooooooooooo Ducks!
ND v Bama is a bit more troubling. It is probably better for Stanford 2013 if ND comes to town as the defending BCS champs. Also, the defending champs will be less hungry, and therefore might not be able to achieve their goals when they come to the Bay Area late in the year. However, I personally will have a hard time watching anything on NBC if ND is the national champs because NBC will promote that for a long, long time. So I was ready to support 'Bama.
However with Florida's loss last night a new exciting prospect has emerged.
The Pac-12 COULD go 2-0 in BCS bowl games this year. Very, very important claim.
The SEC COULD go 0-2 in BCS bowl games this year. And that would be great.
And yet, I have seen both teams enough to know how this BCS title game thing is going to go down. Bama will win by 21 or more with ND getting no more than 10 points. Bama is faster at every single position on the field. The ND team that barely beat Stanford without Hogan and SC without Barkley is not good enough to beat a healthy and motivated Bama.
