There are undoubtedly cases where the alum does not "claim" Stanford and is estranged from the University. However IMO any alum who hasn't expressed otherwise should receive acknowledgement of that status from the University, i.e. it should "claim" them. There are undoubtedly cases where the University would rather not do so because of bad conduct (e.g. Elizabeth Holmes, who didn't graduate but left after 2 years), but that IMO does't matter. We are stuck with them in that case.(08-12-2026, 04:52 PM)old spanish trail Wrote:(08-12-2026, 07:21 AM)fullmetal Wrote:(08-12-2026, 05:24 AM)Jskass Wrote:(08-11-2026, 01:49 PM)2006alum Wrote: That is my precise recollection - Wilson's waiver was granted earlier than Carrington's, the spot went to her, and by the time Moschkau's spot opened up for Carrington she was already in the portal and pursuing Baylor.100%.
Notwithstanding her questionable choices when it comes to flagrant fouls and flagrant x posts, it's always bothered me that Stanford doesn't count Carrington as an alum in their WNBA roundups, since unlike others she used all of her available eligibility at Stanford, graduated in four years, and grad transferred only because we didn't (initially) have a spot for her. Not sure what she should have done differently given those circumstances and (again, last week notwithstanding), not sure why we'd disclaim an alum who's had a pretty successful W career.
Definitely agreed.
Same. Btw, do we claim Iriafen and David Bailey?
I'm not familiar with David Bailey's, but Kiki Iriafen also graduated and we should claim both...along with Nunu, Chloe, Courtney. They will not be the last to graduate and play their fourth year somewhere else.
Cases like Tiger Woods are different in that he never graduated (left after 2 years). Neither did Christian McCaffrey. Should we "claim" them? What exactly does it mean if we do? Christian left to turn pro. We still love him. Bailey also left to turn pro go to Texas Tech, but he got his degree before he did so. Why would Bailey not qualify if Christian does?
