Laid up right now resulting in too much reading and TV; so I have watched a bunch of WNBA games recently…
- Smith definitely looks better; so I think I underestimated the combination of a new team and injuries. She was decent vs. the Fever a few nights ago and if she hits 1-2 of her 4 threes, she has a solid game. Defense not all the way back, but improving.
- Nneka still playing well on a bad Sparks team.
- Kiana getting a few minutes with the Sparks. 22.6% from three is a problem though.
- Brink looked a step behind a few weeks ago, but looked much, much better recently. The Sparks are still clueless, playing the starters 30ish minutes a game with the team going nowhere and with no Plum. Cam and others like Grey need more minutes. Unfortunately, she was hurt again vs. the Liberty but I believe it’s bruised ribs and is unlikely to sideline her long. Her fragility though I think is becoming a legitimate concern.
- I said earlier Lexie needed to find more ways to score, and we have seen the opposite instead. Her offense is just gone - 0,5,5,6 and 1 points her last 5 games. Her 3 point % is only slightly down, but she has no shot volume. She also is a decent defender, but she isn’t elite. The Fever put Mitchell on Bueckets vs. the Wings Friday not Lexie. She still starts but doesn’t get starter minutes.
Not everybody obviously - just who I have seen recently.
On a side note just wow Clark was good vs. Dallas despite an off night from 3. Completely controlled the second half against another elite player in Bueckers.
