This year's best player (Chiney) is not as good as last year's best player (one guess) but the biggest drop off might be in the play of last year's second best player (Chiney) compared to this year's second best player. I'm not even sure who that would be.
Also, Chiney is not at her best posted down low with her back to the basket. She is a slasher. The offense should have her in motion. She is an exceptional offensive rebounder, but there is no other player stepping up as a threat to allow Chiney to be in put-back mode.
It seems to me that the offense can and should be tweaked in order to play to Chiney's greatest strength.
Whatever Stanford's woes may be, Kal deserves credit. They are a legit top ten team. They have a very good back court and powerful posts. That's a nice combination. No offense to other PAC-12 teams, but I have a feeling there will be a rubber game in Seattle. Â
