Regarding Tedford's not being a great QB recruiter, one of the announcers following the 49er game said that Kaepernick's family called requesting a tryout with Kal, and was told Kal was not recruiting quarterbacks.

Is it normal for a family to call and setup a tryout? Seems like it would be a nightmare for schools to administer that, and "not recruiting your position" seems like a polite way to say no.

Regardless, as much as I love to laugh at Cal's misfortunes, it's hard to blame them on this one -- all but one FBS school decided to pass on Kaepernick at the time.
