[Oasis]

So I lived in LA for a few years.  Made some terrific friends.  The following was my impression of the rest of the place: it's an industry town.  And the people in that industry generally can only have an informed discussion on two topics: movies and weight loss fads.

Did you find this wasteland at say, Caltech?  (http://www.caltech.edu/)  JPL? (http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/) Or maybe at the L.A. Phil? (http://www.laphil.com/) I would also mention the Huntington again, but then a day there is probably wasted on somebody who can't tell the difference between Gainsborough's art and a u$c d-bag.  Or maybe when it comes to condescending generalizations you're just full of $%&@, Publius.
