When I watch the team, I don't see a talent deficit. There are definitely ballers on the court. But I see them making the same mistakes (how many times in the last few weeks has Bright picked up his dribble on the sideline and been double teamed to either force a time out or turnover?) or get stagnant on offense (let's pass the ball to Powell on the wing and let him create a shot that's likely to be double teamed!) Coaching isn't going to help a player like Harris rise to elite performance, it's going to help the current starters with shot selection and playing as a team. The way the team continues to lose screams poor coaching. How many come from ahead losses have we had? I again turned in at midnight when the team was up by 1 on at half knowing that when I looked at my phone in the morning, the score would be reversed in Colorado's favor.
I agree with ATL. Jeremy Lin didn't become a star last year because of coaching. He became a star because the Knicks were desperate for a PG after a rash of injuries and needed a stop gap. They rolled the dice with Lin because somebody thought he at least had potential. Coaching had nothing to do with it.
And on that note, the Pac12 needs to get a better TV deal where games can start by 10PM EST. You lose a brobdingnagian portion of your audience when you start at 11pm.
