I think VG explained it quite well. My mental image is of Jason Kidd. He knows where he is going to pass the ball before he has finished catching it. The defense has no time to rotate, and somebody gets an open look. I don't mean to suggest that we should expect players to be like Jason Kidd. Hardly. I just mean to suggest that watching him for just for a short time, even as he nears 40, would help illustrate the diagram in VG's head. Kidd can't do the dribble penetration like he used to, but he rotates the ball around the perimeter with zero hesitation.
