Gee's comments were always good for a quick laugh but I've been surprised that the President of one of the largest public universities in the US has spent so much time commenting on sports, comments which included his memorable take on possibly firing Jim Tressell, "I'm just hopeful the coach doesn't dismiss me."
Yeah, I know Gee was President of football crazed Ohio State not Stanford but can anyone honestly imagine Stanford President Hennessy saying, "I just hope Coach Shaw doesn't fire me!" during a similar football scandal at Stanford? Â
