Anyone recall what happened with Robert Smith?

I remember the chatter about him transferring to Stanford because of his unhappiness with the discouragement of academics by John Cooper at Ohio State.  I wonder why he didn't come.  He would have been much happier if he came to Stanford in the first place and I think he would have fulfilled his dream of being a doctor if he had come to the Farm.

He's the cautionary tale for the players that succumb to the pressure to stay home and play for the local football factory.
