I remember first noticing J.J. Watt in a bowl game Wisconsin played against Miami, IIRC, in his Sophomore season. His size and athleticism stood out. Then as a Junior he blew up, had a monster year and became a first round NFL pick as an early entrant.
Though I first saw Henry Anderson play as a RS Frosh, much like Watt, he didn't really get on my radar screen as a difference-maker type player until his Sophomore year, which was pretty darn impressive. My guess is Anderson would have put up even bigger numbers in his Sophomore campaign if he didn't have a backup as good as Josh Mauro. Who can forget how awesome Mauro was in the Rose Bowl, for example?
It sure seems to me Anderson is poised to have a tremendous year. He doesn't play the same position Watt did in college (Watt a 4-3 DT and Anderson a 3-4 DE), but if Shaw said "compares favorably to J.J. Watt," I think he's pretty on the mark, based on what I know of the two guys at similar junctions of their college careers at least.
I am almost positive Watt played DE at Wisconsin
