Marshall is being used as their balanced speed back, which is their main guy. Thomas is more the receiving HB and change of pace speed back & returner. Thomas makes more plays. Marshall probably blocks better.Â
Marshall really struggled, but running up the middle from shotgun only works when you have blazing speed or the defense assumes pass. Marshall probably is better than 2 YPC but he sure was having a hard time against Virginia. He was supposed to be the Barner type back. Good speed but balanced...and not as fragile.
