Watching that game reminded me of a different style of offense--one that definitely used the pass to set up the run.

Thanks for reminding us 81alum. I loved that kind of offense that I mostly associate with Walsh's style developed somewhat by necessity. I wish we incorporated more of that kind of play today. In some respect, I think the spread employs some of the same tactics - short passing game to open up the run but also to open up big play shots. Walsh always was setting up the big play
