If Stanford wins out, sits at #7 or #8 and misses BCS at-large invites, then I think we have faith that Larry Scott will tell the Alamo Bowl to do the right thing. Besides, the Alamo bowl wants to be a BCS type bowl, and taking a team in the top 10 with 3 previous BCS bowls would really help their story.
I can't imagine that the Alamo Bowl, the Holiday Bowl and the Sun Bowl would all collectively skip a chance for a BCS top 10 team. It is not as if the other Pac-12 teams really travel that well. If Stanford is up against a B1G, Big12 or SEC team that is one thing, but against other Pac-12 teams Stanford's profile and travel numbers are close enough.
