...when Stanford was searching in 2004/2005. And, of course, Ted Leland not only didn't get him, he didn't try. Still, the name Mike Leach was out there among those who wanted Stanford to stretch for something better than Buddy.Â
And, Mick. It's true that many coaches keep pushing the team, team, team while cultivating and buying into their own cult of personality. But only the ones who WIN get to keep indulging themselves and getting away with it. Now Leach is trying to peddle 6-7 record as the moral equivalent of an actual winning season. That works if the WSU team feels like winners and still buys in to the coach. With Leach...who knows? Maybe they do. Maybe Leach will be the scourge of the Pac North in the coming years. Any bets?
