If The Shermanator had never made another play at Stanford, he would have still been "legendary" in my book for his catch in the 2006 UW game in Seattle, our ONLY win that season. As described in The Daily:
""We definitely feel relieved it's off our shoulders," said freshman receiver Richard Sherman, who scored Stanford's first offensive touchdown in 15 quarters with a 74-yard reception in the fourth quarter. "Getting the first win, my first college win, feels great. It feels great to get the weight off our shoulders."
Stanford kicker Aaron Zagory converted a 29-yard field goal just before the half to go into the locker room tied at 3-3. Safety Bo McNally, making the first start of his college career, came up with the day's biggest defensive play, a 49-yard interception touchdown return in the third quarter that gave the Cardinal their first lead in two months, 10-3.
The Cardinal pushed it to 17-3 when Sherman turned a simple bubble screen -- aided by a key block by Marcus McCutcheon -- into a touchdown romp down the Huskies' sideline, Stanford's first offensive score since a halfback-option pass at Notre Dame on Oct. 6."
Of course, he DID make another play the following season:Â that fourth down catch at the end of the G.U.E.
