I don't know much more about Thomas than the comments I have read here, but BC is this really your opinion?  I would have thought that this title would have gone to Andrew Luck hands down, ...

By recruiting rankings -- which I assume what BC's talking about --  he's correct. Using rivals rankings of highly-rated Texans @ Stanford:

Solomon Thomas (#3 DE, #37 overall)
Luck (#4 QB, #68 overall)
Stepfan (#20 RB, #220 overall)
Montgomery (#30 WR, NR overall)

Obviously recruiting rankings are not, exactly, a perfect substitute for college performance, so we'll see how good Thomas turns out to be. Thomas is a nice milestone, in that he's the first Texan with a Texas offer to opt for Stanford in ages.
