I think the point is that until Thomas Stanford never had success in recruiting an academically oriented + being an elite HS Texas player vs the Longhorns...

UT did not offer Luck, Taylor, Dunn, Bookman,Â etc, etc...

only one I know of is Thomas... and he didn't happen to have UT among his set of finalists (perhaps because they coincidentallyÂ had fallen off their top football perch)
