Us and University of Spoiled Children both having late-season OOC matchups means that using that game to fill the early-season hole makes too much sense not to do. I think the options are really either the University of Spoiled Children game or a week 3 bye. We're kind of screwed there.
Hear hear!! You have hit on one of my pet peeves, Stupac2. ND screws up the schedule in several ways. Why does Stanford have to play early season conference games especially in even numbered years? have to save an October date to travel to South Bend rather than play a conference game or take a bye. Notre Dame is also a prime reason that the home schedule in odd years is so attractive compared to even years. But there is no chance to move ND home game to even years since the Irish play at USC in even years.
I don't think that the "history" or "tradition" of the rivalry (such as it is) justifies its continuation. I wish that Stanford would drop ND. But we'll have to grit and bear it for a while. The games are scheduled through 2019.
