I don't think that the "history" or "tradition" of the rivalry (such as it is) justifies its continuation.  I wish that Stanford would drop ND.  But we'll have to grit and bear it for a while.  The games are scheduled through 2019.

I definitely see it as a double-edged sword. Playing that game guarantees us exposure, and in years where our other two OOC games are against bad teams (like this year) we still get a pass. We don't need to worry about teams dropping us because we're too good (as happens to Oregon every now and then), but on the other hand we have little flexibility. I also really loathe that domers compare ND to Stanford as though the schools were equals. From the AD's perspective it's also nice it's going to be a hot ticket even in our down years.

So while I can see the argument for dropping it, and sometimes want to myself (I'm pretty ambivalent about it), I don't think it'll happen.
