In 1984 I attended a Summer Olympics soccer match between Brazil and West Germany at Stanford Stadium. The Brazilian fans were awesome with their party-throughout-the-match. At the half, they had some traditionally costumed dancers from Brazil and Germany. The crowd cheered the samba and booed the liederhosen, which must explain why Brazil won.
I know that they had some World Cup matches at the old Stanford Stadium twenty years ago, but I guess the new stadium would not be an option for future World Cups/Olympics with its limited seating?
In 1984, the Brazilian supporters stayed in Los Gatos. Could they party? Yeah, I guess so. A very popular local tavern in Los Gatos is C. B. Hannegan's. the Brazilians went there to party on the first night there, and Hannegan's ran out of booze...at 9:30 p.m.
