I think there's a perfectly good logical distinction to be made (though perhaps board software can't pick it up).

Bearz of the Golden variety are extinct (look it up!). Naming your team after them just shows your utter 59erness. Of course having an extinct animal as your mascot will doom you to futility.

Other b.ears are proud, intelligent animals.
