I guess my contention is that "closely related" means "as to be indistinguishable".  Oh well.

I personally don't really care about this but I didn't know anything about the "golden bear" so I wanted to look it up. I think at some point species/subspecies classification gets pretty hairy but that's fairly far outside of my areas of expertise.
