The extremity of the hatred of Skov by UCB faithful has to be related to his role in Stanford's turnaround. That one hit on Goff was bad, but on it's own is pretty minor considering it didn't impact the game outcome, the season, or Goff's long term health (at least based on his return to Spring Ball. Skov was one of the highest profile recruits to Stanford just as UCB was fading, he was a significant player on 4 of the 5 teams during the 2009-2013 seasons. If any one player is emblematic of Stanford's rise and image as a hard-nosed, defense minded football program, it's Skov.
Are the 49ers a good choice for Skov? My impression was that they had a strong LB corp. I would think he would sign on to a team that was relatively weak at the position. I hope he gets healthy and proves the league wrong.
