We're all friends here, right? No need to impress each other?
This is my top 10 list, not based upon "artistic" films to fill out a critics Best Movie list but based upon films I've seen again ... and again ... and again. Films I pull out when I want to show the kids there was fun stuff to watch before they were born; several before I was born.Â
Hey, I liked Citizen Kane and Raging Bull but I wouldn't go out of my way to see them again.
Top 10
(In no particular order)
The Sting (Redford and Newman at their best. 'Nuf said )
Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back. (Best of the first trilogy - Lucas should have stopped at three)
The Fellowship of the Ring (Walked in praying "Please don't screw this up." Jackson didn't)
The Shawshank Redemption (What IS it about this movie? Every time I see it while channel surfing I stop clicking)
Casablanca (Saw it first as an outdoor summer movie - at Donner, I believe.)
Spirited Away (My fave from Studio Ghibli - The movie on this list that may cause some head scratching)
The Princess Bride (Beats AH for quotable lines - at least for me)
Bull Durham (Best sports movie, right?)
The Philadelphia Story (Cary Grant, Kate Hepburn AND Jimmy Stewart. Nobody really talks like that but I wish they did)
Inception (Modern cool and the only real life CGI fest on my list. Still debating what actually happened)
Honorable Mention:Â Vertigo, Bladerunner, Lawrence of Arabia, Top Gun, Groundhog Day
