Clearly all of the classic arguments about what an academic institution SHOULD be paying for sports coaches would apply.  However, even at $2 million, I believe that Coach Shaw is likely the lowest paid head coach with at least 3 BCS bowl game appearances.  Given the 2013 compensation for the middle tier in the SEC, I would guess Coach Shaw could easily get $4-5 million per year if he elected to go with the highest bidder.
