I am depressed to be reminded that Mr. Shaw and Ms. VanDerveer are paid more by Stanford than Mr. Hennesey.  To paraphrase Babe Ruth's famous comment about the fact that his salary was higher in 1930  than Herbert Hoover's, Hennesey had a better year than either VanDerveer or Shaw......

Due to Hennessy's holdings in Google stock, I'm sure his 401(k) balance sheet looks just fine.

(I can't remember who, but someone somewhere pointed out that Hennessy's probably the wealthiest college president ever -- he sits on more than a few boards and was a co-founder of a firm that later went public.)

EDIT: of the Stanford administration, I've always felt Etchemendy was great, though that's mostly residual affection from his logic textbook/software.
