  The Bridge on the River Kwai
  Saving Private Ryan
  Apocalypse Now
  Lawrence of Arabia
  Gettysburg
  Hotel Rwanda
  Patton
  The Battle of Algiers[color=black]

I don't consider Casablanca[i] or Schindler[/i] a war movie. In each, WW2 is, IMO, mise-en-scene.

I agree that Battle of Algiers deserves to make most lists of Top 25 movies alltime.

Sticking to "war movies" built on extensive and realistic footage of combat, I submit the box-office turkeys Castle Keep and A Midnight Clear.

btw, Children of Men isn't technically a war movie -- but if any of you know of a more extended, more frightening combat sequences, please advise...
