Add me to the many around here giving a thumbs up to Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow (EOT). 

If you liked Minority Report you will probably like this.  EOT is a very likable Tom  Cruise movie and I haven't said that too often of late.  Emily Blunt's role as the hardened warrior provided a contrast to Cruise's persona many actresses haven't.  Humorously Blunt was quoted several years back disdaining being the female "spear carrier" in a Tom Cruise movie.  I'd say this role keeps her "no-spear carrier" record intact.

So EOT qualifies as a summer blockbuster that doesn't require you to leave your brain at the door.  It's not an Oscar candidate of course, but it is good fun and a better than average entry in the genre.  Sadly in an era of Comic Book adaptations, Prequels, Sequels and reboots it hasn't found the audience it deserves.  Maybe work of mouth will help give its attendance a long tail.

I still need to see Chef before it leaves the local big screens.
