Mainly because I'm busy doing a master compile of recommendations to make sure I haven't missed anything really good.
But one movie I didn't see listed on first reading is Everybody's All American Dennis Quaid as a national collegiate star running back whose future in the NFL is not as rosey as he and his fans or he expected. What I liked about it was Quaid, but also the idea that stars fade without all the compressed melodrama of , say, the Brian Piccolo/ Gayle Sayers saga Brian's Song. At the time, I thought every NFL-dreaming college ball player should have to watch it. But nowadays, with kids balancing $ multi-millions vs. permanently scrambling their brains, this more subtle story would be lost.
