Last year Greg Roman was considered the cat's meow of offensive coordinators.  Today, Niners fans want his head on a pike.  Or, if you'd like, yesterday Obama was a hero.  Today he's a punching bag.  They are still the same guys now as when they were loved, but when you are in charge and in a profession where everyone can see your performance, opinions can change quickly.  That's why big jobs pay so well and come with lots of perks, and why I'm not worried about Bloomgren or his family if he leaves Stanford.  He'll find a job somewhere, getting paid more than 99% of the population.

People from successful organizations are always sought after.  Mason may not have been a hot commodity last year if Stanford finished 6-6.
