I attended the Council luncheon before the OSU game which featured Morgan Turner the TE coach. He said that Cotton was going to be used primarily as a blocker, at least this season. Cotton had picked up the playbook faster. Taboada was probably going to be used as a blocker too.Â
We see these blocking roles clearly in the season stats for both players.
Cotton played in all 12 games. He caught 6 passes total and none after the ASU game.
Taboada also played in all 12 games. He caught 7 passes total and only 1 in the month of November (for only 2 yards).
