Quote:There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures.
Assuming Tavita does have an offer at USF, does he consider USF the flood tide that leads on to fortune? Or, instead of being "bound in shallows and miseries" does he consider his position at Stanford a great opportunity to learn his craft while playing on a bigger stage against better opponents?
In a decently long life, I only rode the flood tide twice. The first got me to Stanford, the second got me out of SoCal and on to a completely unanticipated life in a wider world. But it's still impossible for me to advise him. I don't know how to evaluate my taking a risk on a startup company's chances compared to a high risk/reward offer from a great guy to come coach with him in a high risk situation. Maybe all good football players are risk takers by nature.
