I too was very happy with the result (as well as results along the league), which left San Diego in a position to control their own destiny. The game against Kansas City will not be easy, but it is nice to be in a position to win for a chance to make the playoffs (and play Andrew Luck and the Colts, most likely). As for the game, despite the way it started and San Francisco's reputation on defense, for some reason, I always thought we had a chance, even with the niners up by 21 into the third quarter. It just had that feel. (Of course, I also thought Luck and the Colts could come back from 28 down at the half, and well, that didn't come to pass).

Did you happen to see the spot with Bob Costas in which he disputed that the phase highlighted in your post has meaning since destiny is, by his definition, not controllable. Probably true, but a good example of why he has become insufferable.
