Murphy is a natural for left tackle; great fit, good size and length. He likely is the favorite to be the first team All Pac 12 LT.Â
The question is how easily we can replace him at right tackle. But our improvement around RT--at RG and TE--should leave us in good or better shape.Â
I confess to my relentlessness about getting Wayne at safety. I called him "a Duck Killer" when we landed him, figuring him as the guy who could come up and help stifle Oregon's running game. He's much better suited to it for the same reason I was; more fast than quick and much better in a hard straight line than in changing directions or flipping my hips--which I could not do worth a damn. Wayne became a corner out of our necessity, not his. Carter easily could end up at safety in the pros, too. Moving Wayne to safety could make us better at both CB and S.
And apologies if I have said this at least once too often for some of you.
