I walked past Ted Robinson leaving the scrimmage last year. What a time to be alive.

One time, at Bellagio, my wife walked around a casino corner and smashed into Michael Jordan. His body guards sprang into action but Mike wrapped his arms around her, told them to back off, and asked if she was okay. Her only comment? "He's not as big as I thought he would be." But what did you say? Oh, I told him I was fine and sorry, then went on my way. Why?

Interesting. I've never met Michael in person but he seems not to be very "big" per se, just very tall and lean. I have a friend who encountered LeBron (and his prodigious entourage) at Caesars once and reported that he is in fact a massive human being.
That picture in the OP is interesting. Magic is 6'9", how tall is Shaw? He appears to be about 6'4" from the picture, of course there could be an optical illusion going on. I've seen Shaw up close a few times and he didn't strike me as being so tall.

I once almost got run over by Arnold Schwarzenegger while skiing in Sun Valley (before he became our governor). I remember thinking a) he's not as big as I thought and b) he is one hell of a skier. I guess growing up in Austria had something to do with it. Bruce Willis was also on the mountain but I only caught a glimpse of him on the lift line.

Jordan is actually 6'5" or slightly less. Your wife was wearing (and looking good in) 4" spike heels while Michael was wearing thin soled $5,000 Italian loafers. So they were probably close to eye to eye. What did she say happened after they bumped into each other?

I'm friendly with a former Stanford lineman who met Schwarzenegger in the course of business. He swears that Schwarzenegger wears lifts in his shoes...also that's he's the most alpha male he'd ever run across.

All the bodybuilding types I've known are clearly compensating for something, so the famous ones mostly being short isn't even a little surprising.

The largest human I've ever seen in person is Shaquille O'Neal. He is absolutely massive. I've bumped into him twice at trade shows. While they say he's not 7' tall, he's at least 4' wide, or so it seems.
