This thread should be re-titled to "Today in self-serving college head coaches" when you read Mora's comment re: Jack.

It's the young man's decision. You can advise him, but he has to do what he thinks is best. You come off as a first class D-Bag ripping the decision of one of your players in the media.Â
David Shaw in a similar situation might be: We gave Miles our opinion and he made the best decision for himself based on that and his own feelings. We wish him the best of luck as he pursues a career in the NFL and thank him for his contributions to Stanford University.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

Mora sounds desperate...as he may be for a head coach who just lost to ASU on a final TD where his defense forgot how to tackle over the course of many, many yards.

I think the defense was trying to strip the ball so maybe they werent aiming to tackle the runner, but it sure didnt look good or help their cause to give up a TD.

At first I applauded Mora for telling Jack that it was risky to leave for the NFL without finishing college. But then I discovered that Mora's "risky" comment had nothing to do with a college degree.
The fact that Jack withdrew from classes the very instant he decided his college playing days were over tells me all I need to know about him and that program. There was no apparent reason he should not finish out the year in classes if he ever really cared about an education--even if he does go on to the NFL.
I guess UCLA's APR just went down a tick.

Now that he's dropped his classes and is out of school, what obligation does UCLA have to cover Jack's medical needs? Anyone know?

Maybe his continuing rebad? Or maybe zip, nada, nothing. He says he is going to go to Arizona to continue rebad under the Cardinals trainer. I doubt UCLA would be on the hook for that, but who is paying? By leaving the team and th school he no longer is subject to NCAA rules, right?
