This is Stanford's 10th season in the new stadium. I started wondering how successful we've been in the new stadium. So I went back and looked at our home field record since we opened the stadium in 2006.
W/L record from 2006 through 2015 to date:
Home record    44-16  .733
Road record     29-26  .527
Neutral (bowls)Â Â Â 3-3Â Â Â .500
Total          76-45  .628
  Â
Pretty impressive home field advantage!
But when you break it down, it gets even more impressive. Stanford's home field record during its first two seasons in the new stadium was pretty awful. Stanford went 0-5 at home in the new stadium's debut season (2006), then went 2-6 in the second season (2007). So Stanford was 2-11 at home in those first two seasons, a bit worse than Stanford's 3-8 record on the road during those seasons.
Beginning in 2008, Stanford turned things around. Stanford became dominant at home.
W/L record from 2008 through 2015 to date:
Home record    42-5   .894
Road record     26-18  .591
Neutral (bowls)Â Â Â 3-3Â Â Â .500
Total          71-26   .732
Think of that for a minute . . . 42-5! Really a stunning home record, isn't it? I did not realize how many wins had piled up over the years. How great has it been to have that kind of success at home?
[The turning point in our home field record actually was the final game of 2007, when we upset C.al in the Big Game. If we add that win to the total, Stanford has a home record of 43-5 since the last game of 2007.]
